Eleventh Journal from 4/15/10

In process, personal mini-critique:

So far I have dove into my piece and have covered the entire area with the rubbings. I feel I need to go back to the cemetery and do some darker rubbings (to expand the tonal range). I had a couple people in class say it makes them think of money and some one else suggested it was due to the font in some of the rubbings. I agreed and feel I need to work on getting different fonts off the tomb stones. I also had one of those 'font' people freak out once I told her what they were from. I am glad she didn't know that at first so she looked at the piece texturally. That is my goal; to have people really look at it without passing preconceived judgments about it due to their personal feelings on cemeteries. I hope to push it further; as to avoid other preconceptions of the work. I need to push it further with directional lines and textures. I can not wait to see the final piece!
